The Effluence Of Light by AKOrganicAbstracts The Effluence Of Light by AKOrganicAbstracts
So it was time for something new. After working with only canvas for several months, I opted to move on. The Effluence Of Light is a highly textured piece using modeling paste, spackling spray, gesso, acrylic paint and wood burning, all on a 49 x 24 board. I included the final piece, as well as some detail shots at the bottom. The modeling paste was applied with a putty knife, as well as a cheap cake decorating kit.... the bag and tip came in handy for creating smooth and rounded strokes of putty.

First, let me say how much I love your screen name 'gimmecookie' as it captures my mood, well, pretty much all of the time.

Nice! Very exciting to move into the realm of the slightly-more-three-dimensional. Been wanting to do that for a while. It enhances your style perfectly.

Thanks Corviid... it was time to stretch myself a little. I am somewhat amazed it actually WORKED. Plan to do a series for my gallery studio and see what kind of reaction I get. You should try mixed media... very liberating.

Thank you very much! It's amazing what you'll use when you're doing home renovations and putty and spackle happen to be lying around.
